The Ivent heartbeat, behind the scenes
Meet the team
Our strength is our people. We carefully select team members who perfectly fit the Ivent puzzle, fostering a unique and vibrant company culture.
Our team often describes Ivent as a 'family,' and that spirit shines through in everything we do.
This supportive environment makes Ivent a great place to work and ensures our clients feel welcomed and valued from the moment they join us.
First In, Last In
We recently chatted with our founder and our newest team member, Daniel Hurley, in a series we call "First In, Last In".
Daniel Hurley
Senior Backend Developer
G: Why did you choose Ivent as the next step in your career path?
D: I came from a large company where I felt like just a number, lost in overly complicated bureaucratic processes. When I looked for a new role, I wanted something that worked on a modern stack but had a smaller, more personal feel. Three months into Ivent, I can definitely say this is the case.
G: What is the team spirit like here?
D: The team spirit is great here. Even though we are all fully remote, the company meets every Friday, so you get to know your colleagues. We also have a few channels where there are plenty of messages flying around, so you never feel isolated. Plus, whenever you need help, people are available to hop on calls to hash things out.
G: What do you enjoy about working on the new Ivent Pro platform?
D: The Ivent Pro platform is fantastic. We’re continuously updating things and using more of the latest AWS serverless features. As a growing dev team on a pretty big project, there's tons of ownership to be had and space to try new things.
G: When we started this business 14 years ago, I wanted to ensure it felt like a level playing field where every colleague had a voice and could contribute. How do you feel about this approach?
D: I feel this still applies today. The company is very open. If I have an idea, I feel like I am heard. Instead of being put down if it isn’t ‘how things are done,’ it becomes a conversation on pros and cons, leading to a shared understanding.
G: What are you looking forward to adding to your skill set as a developer?
D: All things serverless! Deepening my AWS understanding was a big motivator for joining, and there’s an emphasis on event-driven architecture, which is pretty new for me. In the team, there's a lot of knowledge and help to be had.
G: You recently moved abroad to get married, Daniel. How does the flexibility to work where you choose impact your life?
D: This flexibility really works for me. I get a lot of satisfaction from my work and love mountain sports like running, skiing, and climbing. Sadly, this can be difficult to combine in the UK, as our winters aren't cold enough. So being able to combine both and work with great people has been priceless.
You've heard a bit of our story, now we'd love to hear yours.
